Dragon Ball Manga Vol.36 Chapter 426 : The Tenka’ichi Budōkai
Summary:
In Capsule Corp. Gohan tells Bulma that he will enter the Tenka'ichi Budōkai because one of his classmates is Mr. Satan's daughter... Bulma recognizes Master Satan as the world champion fighter who got in the way during the battle with Cello. Gohan says she's not very good, but she found out his identity. However, Tenka'ichi Budōkai doesn't allow helmets or guards, so he needs something else. Bulma has a solution and gives him a scarf and sunglasses. Gohan is amazed at how easy it was and asks Trunks what he thinks, but Trunks says "No comment..." (in English). Bulma assumes that Gohan would win easily, but Vegeta thinks otherwise. He insists that if Gohan enters, he will too. He says there used to be a big difference in power between them, but what now? Gohan relaxed during this peaceful time as he continued his training. Bulma starts complaining that Vegeta doesn't have a job and neither does Goku so he must be a Saiyan. Trunks thinks it would be awesome if his father and Gohan fought then a very familiar voice said "I'll enter too!"
Gohan recognizes it as his father's voice. "That's right! It's been a while guys." Gohan asks how he's been, and Goku says he's as good as anyone can be when they're dead, speaking to them through Kaiō. Gohan asks if he can really come and Goku says yes. He asked Uranai Baba to allow the one day he could return to the living to be a Budōkai day. Gohan is very happy, Vegeta thinks it will be interesting, and Trunks is confused. Bulma tells Gohan to hurry up and tell his mom, Goten, Kuririn and everyone else the big news. Before leaving, Gohan tells Vegeta that he should wear a costume to hide his identity, but Vegeta is quite reluctant.
His first stop is at Kame House, and Kuririn is very surprised to hear the news. Gohan points out to the reader that since Kuririn stopped fighting, he also stopped shaving his head like a monk. Kame-Sen'nin, number 18, and the little blonde are there too. Kuririn doubts he could win if Goku, Gohan, and Vegeta all participate, but Gohan says the prizes will be up to fifth place. #18 asks how much they could win. The winner gets 10,000,000 Zenny, second place 5,000,000, third 3,000,000, fourth 2,000,000, and fifth 1,000,000. #18 tells Kuririn that he will compete alongside her. Kuririn asks Gohan not to tell Piccolo about this so he can surely get fifth place, but Gohan can't do it. Kuririn then asks about Gohan's goofy outfit, but Gohan says that he has no fashion sense and insists that it's cool.
Next stop, God's Palace. Piccolo thinks it should be interesting and says he'll enter, but Dende won't since he's not a fighting-type namesake. Piccolo also asks about Gohan's weird clothes, but Gohan tells him they're fine. Gohan flies off, thinking he doesn't know where Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu are, and Bulma contacts Yamcha. He thinks that his mother will be happy to see his father, even if only for a day, and Goten will see him for the first time. However, he doubts his mother will even let him in. He would have to take time off from school to train... But that night at dinner, Chi-Chi is so excited to hear that Goku is coming back and worries that she has aged so much. Gohan says he wants to participate too and talks about the prize money. Chi-Chi then insists on participating because he and Goku could get first and second place for 15,000,000 Zenny. She doesn't even care if he takes time off from school to train. Chi-Chi thinks it's a blessing from the heavens because there is very little left of her father's estate. Gohan asks Goten to help him train tomorrow and Goten says fine. So the next day Gohan turns Super Saiyan to start his new training.
