Dragon Ball Manga Vol.36 Chapter 431 : The Preliminaries Begin
Summary:
As they head to the preliminaries, Goku notices that Kuririn is not bald. Trunks tells Goten that he really does look like his dad, but he doesn't think he looks as strong as his own dad. Goten says that Gohan told him that their father is the strongest in the universe. Goku then notices that number 18 is there as well, and Kuririn tells him that they live together in Muten Rōshi's house and have a child. Goku is shocked and wonders how robots can have babies. "He's not a robot. He's just a human that's been tweaked a bit." As they approach the arena, the interviewing lady and her cameraman notice a group coming towards them. She first tries to talk to Vegeta and Piccolo, but they just ignore her. However, she thinks that she seemed aware. However, Goku says that he came from "That World" and explains that his aura is not an accessory, you get it when you die. Piccolo decides to telekinetically destroy the camera before Goku can say too much, and the interviewer berates the cameraman for breaking it cameras.
A Budōkai attendant guides them inside and points to a cloakroom if they need it. Kuririn, Trunks, and Vegeta all change clothes, with Kuririn saying that the only ones who have a decent fight are their friends. The man thinks that Piccolo is not good looking because of his skin. I died during the battle with Cell. I came back from that world specially today.” The announcer thinks that this is not too strange for them and then heads off.
Preliminaries begin and there are 194 people without the youth team, but only sixteen can participate. Mr. Satan will be in automatically as he is the reigning champion, but the remaining fifteen will now be selected using a hole punch. The fifteen highest points will pass. Mr. Satan shows off the punching machine and says that no one can do it better than him (Kuririn smugly says otherwise). Piccolo telekinetically destroys all the cameras again, saying he did it for Gohan. Gohan is very grateful while everyone else is completely confused. Gohan sets out to find his friend just as Mr. Satan prepares to use the punching machine (now disappointed that the world won't see it).
Satan recovers and then hits the machine for a score of 137. He encourages the other fighters and then heads inside exhausted. The attendant tells everyone to line up at the punch machine while the kids have to go this way. Goku wonders where Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu are and Kuririn says something about how they said "we'll probably never meet again". Some people go through the queue and finally it is the turn of number 84: No. 18. Kuririn tells her to take it easy and not break the machine. #18 nonchalantly punches it and gets 774. She thinks the machine is malfunctioning and Kuririn berates her as they "fix" it. Her second score is more acceptable with 203. #85, Kuririn, gets 192. #86, Goku, gets 186. #87, Piccolo, gets 210. The attendant thinks it must be really broken, but then Vegeta destroys the machine with his punch , so he completely stunned everyone.
